Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly proved they were a fine comic duo in both Step Brothers and Talledega Nights.
Their next teaming could find their comic chemistry nudged aside for liberal talking points.
The comic actors are set to star in Border Guards, the story of two drifters who find new meaning in life when they sign up to protect the U.S. border from illegal immigrants. As humorous luck would have it, the pair ended up in Mexico, without identification, and desperate to go home again.
The film may be directed by Adam McKay, Ferrell’s partner in the Obama-shilling Funny or Die Web site. The director/star also teamed up for The Other Guys, a film which shoehorned its politics into the film’s waning moments.
Will this potential trio focus on the funny, and not the partisan sniping? The film’s box office success may hang in the balance.
