Robin Williams returned to television last fall, a by product of too many movie flops and bills.
Now, with CBS hemming on a second season of The Crazy Ones, it could mean Williams’ TV reunion will be short-lived.
The comedian’s Mork & Mindy sitcom from the early 1980s catapulted him to the A list. Starring roles in Good Morning, Vietnam and Mrs. Doubfire showed he had range and crowd appeal. In recent years, however, he’s chosen lackluster film projects and squandered decades of good will. He also brought an ugly partisanship to his act, calling Rush Limbaugh a “big prick,” mocked President George W. Bush in an ugly fashion and heaped scorn on Sarah Palin.
Now, he’ll have to hope CBS remembers his small screen legacy while considering the future of The Crazy Ones.
