Noah isn’t just another big-budget Hollywood product.
The film, from celebrated director Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan, The Wrestler), is the first of several major movies based on spiritual source material. Recent films like Soul Surfer, Fireproof and Letters from God leveraged modest budgets to tell faith-friendly tales. Noah represents Hollywood going all in to court Christian movie goers, sparing no expense to get the details right–or so many hope.
It’s not surprising, then, to learn this weekend’s Super Bowl telecast will feature a short trailer from the film. The clip, available online now, features a standard parade of special effects, A-list cast members (Russell Crowe, Jennifer Connelly) and the hint of action sequences based on Biblical narratives.
What might cause some to wrinkle their brows is the term “untold story” which is displayed mid-commercial.
Noah, featuring Crowe in the title role, hits theaters March 28.
