Oscar-winner Quentin Tarantino has dropped plans to make the Western “The Hateful Eight” his next film after the script leaked online.
The director says he trusted only six people with a copy of the script, actors he considered casting and their respective agents. Tarantino told Deadline, “I give it out to six people, and if I can’t trust them to that degree, then I have no desire to make it.”
Tarantino isn’t upset that the script leaked online. He’s angry that someone he trusted–Bruce Dern, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen or one of their respective agents–apparently betrayed that trust. “I like the fact that people like my s—, and that they go out of their way to find it and read it, ” the director said. “But I gave it to six motherf—ing people!”
Tarantino seems certain Roth didn’t leak the script and believes one of the other actors let their agent read it “and that agent has now passed it on to everyone in Hollywood.”
Tarantino said he could still “totally change his mind.”
