According to the New York Times, the parents of Trayvon Martin are shopping a book to publishers about their son who was killed in an altercation with neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman in 2012.
Tracy Martin and Sabrina Fulton, who are divorced, said the book will focus on the complete story of their son and detail how their lives were filled with shock and sorrow as a result of Trayvon’s death. In July, in a trial that captured the attention of Americans unlike any other since the O.J. Simpson trial, Zimmerman was acquitted of second-degree murder and manslaughter.
Martin and Fulton were joined in their publishing meeting by their Dallas-based literary agent, Jan Miller. Miller is known for being the literary agent to the stars. She has published books by many well know celebrities including Arnold Schwarzenegger. In 1998, she told the Dallas Business Journal that her favorite part of the literary business is brokering ideas. Miller said, “I determine what people are thinking.” She also said, “I like making people rich.”
According to one publishing executive, Martin and Fulton indicated that foremost the book will center on the roles of race, religion, and faith. The Times pointed out that a book about a fatal shooting and a subsequent trial has the key ingredients that attract cable television. The Times reached out to Miller for comment, but she did not respond.
