'House of Cards' Season 2 Preview: 'And the Butchery Begins'

Netflix showed it meant business with its first original series House of Cards.

The show, featuring a starry cast including two-time Oscar winner Kevin Spacey, earned the streaming giant instant respect as well as a flurry of industry honors.

This week alone Cards snared four Golden Globes nominations including one for best television drama.

Now, Netflix has unveiled a peek at the show’s second season, set for a Feb. 14, 2014 streaming debut. Our first glimpse at the new episodes reveals an even nastier take on political maneuvering.

“And the butchery begins,” warns Spacey’s Frank Underwood, the show’s diabolical politician. The new season features not just Spacey but talented co-stars Robin Wright and Kate Mara.

House of Cards may be set in the Nation’s Capital, but the series eschewed the standard Hollywood partisanship for content both sides of the political aisle can enjoy. Amazon Prime’s first foray into political material, Alpha House, repeatedly attacks conservatives, by contrast.
