The leftists in Hollywood, led by DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg, have already raised more than $1 million to support Alison Lundergan Grimes as they and their masters in the Obama administration want to oust Senate Minority Leader Sen. Mitch McConnell (Ky.)
Katzenberg told The Hollywood Reporter on Thursday after a fundraiser at Spago in Beverly Hills that he and his cohorts had raised that sum.
Staff campaign advisers laughed as they told an exiting Grimes that the large number of supporters were present because the fundraiser “came from the top down,” which was to reassure her that Katzenberg himself was totally involved in making certain the event was successful. When Katzenberg was asked just which attendees had donated, he answered, “Everybody.”
One Hollywood insider told The Hollywood Reporter that $1 million is the most any senatorial candidate has raised from a single visit to Tinseltown. Another source claimed that Katzenberg is planning to throw his weight into Democratic Super PACs to get Grimes elected.
One seasoned veteran of the Hollywood political scene commented that Katzenberg “worked very hard on making phone calls and writing people on her behalf,” and “the mood” is right for Grimes because McConnell stands in the way of Obama’s agenda.
Just this year, Katzenberg and his wife Marilyn have given $137,600 to Democratic organizations, including $100,000 to the Senate Majority Political Action Committee, which is organized to elect Democratic Senators.
