Mainstream media outlets are reporting that Oprah Winfrey apologized for how her allegation of racism against a Swiss store clerk blew up out of proportion.
And that’s essentially it, leaving the bigger question unanswered–was she using a fuzzy racial accusation simply to promote a film, Lee Daniels’ The Butler, that delves into America’s racial wounds?
An incurious media won’t ask, but TMZ will accuse the talk show queen of pretending not to know how the media works in 2013.
The site’s headline on the issue, “Passive Aggressive Oprah Gives BS Apology for Switzerland Racist Flap” says it all. Or does it?
Oprah Winfrey says she’s kinda sorta “sorry” for the fallout that ensued after she told the media about a “racist” encounter at a purse store in Switzerland … saying, “I’m really sorry that it got blown up.”
Yeah, right….
Problem is … O’s full of it. What did she think was going to happen when she went on national TV and cried racism? The media was just going to ignore that??
The clerk in question, whose name has not been revealed, sternly disputes Winfrey’s recollection of their meeting.
