CNN Prepping Hillary Doc from Fawning Filmmaker

CNN is getting into the Hillary Clinton movie business.

On the heels of Rodham, a feature film about the former First Lady, and an NBC miniseries starring Diane Lane as Clinton comes a CNN Films documentary on a woman many say will lead the 2016 Democratic presidential ticket.

In pre-production, the unnamed docu will debut theatrically in 2014 before being shown on the cable news network.

CNN purports to be an unbiased news outlet, so surely the director of the project will strive to maintain that sense of objectivity. That certainly could be the case, but the statement released by director Charles Ferguson in announcing the project sounds like he’ll be wearing his Hillary 2016 T-shirt during the shoot.

I am very excited to be making a film about Hillary Rodham Clinton, whose fascinating life and work embody so many of America’s, and the world’s, hopes and challenges”, said Ferguson, who won the 2011 Documentary Feature Oscar for Inside Job, about the U.S. financial meltdown.
