The streaming revolution has officially crashed the Emmys.
House of Cards, the political drama from streaming powerhouse Netflix, picked up an Emmy nomination today for Best Drama among nine overall nominations. Emmy voters also selected stars Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright for best acting honors.
If that wasn’t good enough news for the New Media company, two of its other signature series–Arrested Development and Hemlock Grove–also snared their fair share of nominations.
The 14 nominations for Netflix content marks a breakthrough for the streaming world, and in record time. House of Cards, Netflix’s first major original series, debuted only last year.
HBO dominated the honors all the same, picking up 108 nominations but failing to secure its liberal fantasy The Newsroom a nod for best drama.
Other notable winners from the Emmy nominations announcement:
- HBO’s Behind the Candelabra, the biopic of famed pianist Liberace, scored acting noms for stars Michael Douglas and Matt Damon.
- FX’s American Horror Story earned the most nominations–17, with HBO’s Game of Thrones coming in second with 16.
- NBC’s perpetually low-rated 30 Rock received 13 nominations for its final season, including one for co-star Alec Baldwin.
