Can’t wait to see World War Z, the new zombie film starring mega-star Brad Pitt? Better open up your wallet.
Paramount will be screening the undead thriller two days before its June 21 release in select cities for a very select price–$50 per ticket. That fee will also grant you an HD digital copy of the film once its available, a limited edition movie poster, special 3D glasses and a small popcorn.
It’s a bold gamble. The film has been hit with bad buzz over reshoots, release date changes and a bloated budget north of $200. So a brisk pre-sale tally may help assuage worries the film won’t earn back its investment.
The “mega-ticket” deal also bespeaks confidence in the finished product. Happy customers will likely spread the news via social media, and that could boost the movie’s weekend box office tally.
