Will the fabled Tonight Show, once home to legendary host Johnny Carson, become a vehicle for Democrat-approved politicians?

Future Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon, who famously allowed President Barack Obama to push his agenda via a “slow jam” news segment, helped out another politician last night in the guise of comedy.

N.J. Gov. Chris Christie, a Republican known for bashing his own party and fawning over President Obama weeks before a national election, joined Fallon on his NBC Late Night show Wednesday.

Christie helped Fallon Slow Jam the news, which meant the politician was able to use his talking points about his state’s open Senate seat in comedy form.

As you know, New Jersey has a vacant seat in the U.S. Senate. I had the chance to either appoint a hand-picked replacement or let the people vote on their new Senator,” Christie said with the show’s house band, The Roots, playing in the background.

Some sexual dysfunction and fat jokes followed, and the segment wrapped with talk of Christie running for the White House in 2016. The show’s house band played Bruce Springsteen’s Born to Run as a none too subtle hint.

Can anyone imagine Carson giving up a huge chunk of his show to let a politician spin his recent policies? Now, should Christie emerge as the GOP presidential candidate his days as Fallon’s chummy pol are history. He’ll be pinned down as anti-women, anti-gay and anti-birth control rights just as Mitt Romney was last year.

For now, Christie gets huzzahs and hugs from the likes of Fallon–treatment which will continue until Christie either embraces his conservative side anew or starts talking tough about the current administration.

Christie better get his slow jam on while he can.
