Director Bryan Singer is a one-man publicity machine for his upcoming film X-Men: Days of Future Past.
The film, a follow-up to the popular Marvel Comics prequel X-Men: First Class, features characters from that film as well as established players from the previous X-franchise including Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine.
Singer’s latest tweets for the film, to take place at least partly in the early 1970s, included set snapshots that show not only President Richard M. Nixon but characters in Vietnam. It begs the question–will the sequel to the prequel go political?
The franchise isn’t a stranger to sending messages along with the colorful action sequences. The whole concept of mutants who band together after being ostracized touches upon racism in America.
The film is currently slated for a July 2014 release.
