Some artists might look at the corruption and frightening levels of gun violence in Chicago and paint a bleak portrait of its current mayor, Rahm Emanuel.
Not Robert Redford.
The actor/director, who recently spun on behalf of The Weather Underground via his cinematic bomb The Company You Keep, is prepping a new show set to sing the Chicago mayor’s praises.
Here’s Redford’s statement concerning Chicagoland, a limited-part series he’ll be executive producing for, who else, CNN:
The vibrant culture and opportunities inherent in this 21st century, world-class city run alongside profound daily challenges. Much of it falls on the shoulders of its tough, visionary mayor, his team and people doing heroic work in neighborhoods throughout the city.
The show is expected to bow in early 2014.
