Clint Eastwood’s “empty chair” speech blasting President Barack Obama at last year’s Republican National Convention drew withering reviews from the press. Celebrities mocked Eastwood’s political theater as well, breaking the unwritten rule not to trash fellow actors.
Look who’s laughing now.
Eastwood just lapped Obama in a new poll dedicated to the critical issue of trust.
… the iconic actor ranked No. 13 on Reader’s Digest “100 Most Trusted People in America” poll, released Tuesday. Fifty-six percent of Americans trust Eastwood, compared with the 45 percent who trust Obama. Obama ranked No. 65 on the list.
Some media outlets suggested Eastwood’s RNC performance would permanently damage his legendary career. They didn’t count on the enormous goodwill the actor has generated over the years as well as President Obama’s lackluster performance in the Oval Office, apparently.
