The April 24 edition of The Late Show With David Letterman saw the CBS talker label Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) the “Stooge of the Night” for voting “no on gun control reform.”
Letterman then put a photograph of Cruz up on full screen and suggested those rascals at Gun Owners of America and the National Association for Gun Rights purchased Cruz’s loyalty with $14,000.
With the photograph still up, he made fun of Cruz’s hair and suggested we perform a background check on the Senator’s barber.
In short, he tried to make Cruz look like some hick from down there in Texas who really doesn’t understand the complexity of the issues at hand.
None of this was funny. But what was comical was knowing Letterman was a “self-described average student” at Ball State University, and that he only went there because he couldn’t make good enough grades to get into Indiana University, which was his first choice.
Meanwhile, Sen. Cruz graduated from Princeton with honors, went to Harvard Law School, was “a primary editor of the Harvard Law Review,” was an attorney in a Houston law firm that was one of the nation’s largest, was the Solicitor General of Texas, was an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Texas School of Law, and was an Associate Deputy Attorney General at the U.S. Department of Justice, among other accomplishments.
It’s kinda weird that Letterman would be laughing at Cruz, isn’t it?
