Oliver Stone: Horror Filmmakers Akin to CIA Torturers

Don’t expect Oliver Stone to get handed a horror movie remake anytime soon.

Stone, who actually dabbled in horror early in his career via films like The Hand and Seizure, told a panel of filmmakers April 17 that he won’t be revisiting the genre.

Of course, Stone couldn’t put it in those inoffensive words while describing his early dealings with horror filmmaking.

“I realized at that point that I wasn’t a horror director,” Stone told a crowd of theater owners and film industry professionals. “You have to be like a CIA torturer — stick the needle right between the eyes and keep it there.”

Stone has never shied away from utilizing some of the tools of the horror movie trade, witness the copious gore found in Stone pictures like Natural Born Killers.
