John Kerry Wishes Ben Affleck, 'Argo' Good Luck at Oscars

Secretary of State John Kerry took to the official State Department Twitter account Saturday to wish Ben Affleck and his film Argo good luck at Sunday’s Academy Awards.

The @StateDept account bio says tweets from Secretary Kerry are signed “-JK.”

The account later tweeted a photo of the Argo film crew at the Department of State in Washington, D.C.

The film centers on the 1979 Iranian hostage crisis and a CIA plot to rescue U.S. diplomats held captive in the Islamic Republic’s capital city of Tehran.

Argo is nominated for seven awards, including Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay, but Affleck is not nominated for Best Director. The Directors Guild of America named Affleck Best Director at its February 2nd annual awards ceremony.

Politics and sports analyst Nate Silver predicted Argo would win the Oscar for Best Picture in a Friday blog entry.
