HBO is generally the go-to pay network for left-of-center content. Think The Newsroom, Real Time with Bill Maher and movies like Game Change and Recount.
Lately, Showtime is giving its competitor a run for its money. From Showtime’s recently wrapped history miniseries from far-left filmmaker Oliver Stone to the upcoming climate change project powered by “I believe in Ecoterrorism” James Cameron, the network isn’t afraid of embracing a progressive viewpoint.
Which makes next month’s Showtime documentary The World According to Dick Cheney all the more intriguing. The film, directed by The War Room producer R.J. Cutler, lets the former vice president speak as well as his detractors.
Hit piece? Fair account of one of Washington’s most important players in recent history? The documentary trailer plays it relatively straight.
The World According to Dick Cheney debuts at 9 p.m. EST March 15.
