Hollywood just finished celebrating President Barack Obama’s second inauguration, but the industry is already looking ahead to 2016.
A new film based on the early days of Hillary Clinton’s political career is slowly making its way through the pre-production stages. NBC reports Beltway insiders are giddy at the prospect of Hillary: The Movie.
Penned by Young-Il Kim, the script’s The Blacklist description reads: “During the height of the Watergate scandal, rising star Hillary Rodham is the youngest lawyer chosen for the House Judiciary Committee to impeach Nixon, but she soon finds herself forced to choose between a destined path to the White House and her unresolved feelings for Bill Clinton, her former boyfriend who now teaches law in Arkansas….”
Various actresses have been reading for the part, a source close to the production confirms to NBC, but no one is officially attached.
There’s little doubt the film will cast Rodham in a positive, if not beatific light, giving the industry’s political bent. And a fawning biopic could coax the former Secretary of State to resume her pursuit of the Oval Office.
