Showtime Teams with James Cameron, '60 Minutes' for Climate Change Series

We’re melting! We’re melting!

Actually, we’re not, but you couldn’t tell from the gaggle of climate change geese flying to Showtime. The pay cable network is producing a documentary series about climate change titled “Years of Living Dangerously” which, Showtime breathlessly reports, “is a collaboration between some of Hollywood’s biggest actors and producers, along with the country’s leading news journalists.”

There’s a shocker.

The list of names includes executive producer James (I’m King of the World – Whoever was in charge before got it wrong) Cameron, Hollywood producer Jerry Weintraub and ex-Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, along with those non-partisan Emmy®-winning “60 Minutes” producers Joel Bach and David Gelber, and “climate expert” Daniel Abbasi.

Will Hollywood’s Usual Suspects show up? Why, sure! Matt Damon, Don Cheadle, Alec Baldwin and Edward Norton will be part of the extraordinary team, as well as “a dream team of New York Times journalists including three-time Pulitzer Prize winner Thomas Friedman, two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Nicholas Kristof, as well as renowned columnist Mark Bittman.”

David Nevins, President of Entertainment for Showtime Networks Inc. bloviated:

The recent devastation on the East Coast is a tragic reminder of the direct link between our daily lives and climate change. This series presents a unique opportunity to combine the large-scale filmmaking styles of James Cameron, Jerry Weintraub and Arnold Schwarzenegger — arguably some of Hollywood’s biggest movie makers — with the hard-hitting, intimate journalism of 60 Minutes veterans Joel Bach and David Gelber. I believe this combination will make for a thought-provoking television event.

More like an emetic while you watch eco-hypocrites on display. Showtime blesses Cameron as “a long-time, vocal environmental advocate.” This is the same guy who flies around the world in private jets to protest for environmentalism. And Weintraub is the guy who flies on private jets with George Cloonery and Brad Pitt. As for the leftism of “60 minutes” …

Cameron, who is notoriously shy about blowing his own horn, bragged, “We’ll make it exciting. We’ll make it investigative. We’ll bring people the truth. And people are always hungry for the truth.”

The truth about climate change in a concoction from this assortment of leftists? More likely, as the Wicked Witch would say, “And now, my beauties, something with poison in it, I think.”
