Brad Pitt on Same-Sex Marriage: It's What Defines Us

Brad Pitt once vowed not to marry longtime sweetie Angelina Jolie until gay Americans also had the right to get married.

Pitt backtracked on the promise, with news this week that his nuptials are coming sooner rather than later. But the actor, soon to be seen in the dark, anti-capitalism drama “Killing Them Softly,” is still throwing his celebrity weight behind gay marriage.

Here’s the actor discussing how the issue reflects on the country as a whole.

“Equality, absolutely, that’s what defines us. It’s what makes us great,” Pitt said when asked about what he thinks about Maine, Maryland and Washington legalizing gay marriage. “If it doesn’t sit well with your religion, let your God sort it out in the end, but that’s us. We’re equal.”
