Harvey Weinstein is used to getting his way.
The mega-producer behind Oscar winners such as “The King’s Speech” and “Shakespeare in Love” can usually muscle his movies into awards season conversations each fall. This year, Harvey watched as an interview with Bradley Cooper, the star of his latest Oscar-bait film, “Silver Linings Playbook,” got sacked by the NFL Network.
The movie’ subplot involving sports betting made the film a bad match for jittery football suits.
“The segment was pulled because the movie included content related to gambling on NFL games,” said the NFL Network in a brief statement to EW.Weinstein lashed back, slamming the NFL and calling their move “censorship.”
“We are deeply disappointed in the NFL’s decision and we are quite frankly surprised. Pulling a pretaped interview with our stars is nothing short of censorship.
As many people know, I am personally a big football fan,” said Weinstein in a statement to EW.
Update: Here’s video of Rich Eisen chatting about his Thanksgiving special on Good Day LA. The segment includes a promotional snippet of Eisen yukking it up with Chris Tucker AND Bradley Cooper. Both actors star in “Silver Linings Playbook.”
