It’s fair to say your average Madonna concert crowd overlaps nicely with President Barack Obama’s base.
The Material Girl’s fans tend to be left of center, amendable to gay marriage and hardly prude when it comes to sexual high jinks.
Madonna carved a career out of her erotic antics, from penning a book literally titled “Sex” to writhing on stage well into her 50s.
No judging. Just observations.
So you can excuse Madonna for thinking a simple Obama shout out during last night’s concert in New Orleans would hardly interrupt the festivities.
Madonna drew boos and triggered a walkout by several concertgoers after she touted President Barack Obama on her “MDNA Tour” in New Orleans.
The Material Girl asked during Saturday night’s performance: “Who’s registered to vote?” She added: “I don’t care who you vote for as long as you vote for Obama.” Drawing boos in touting Obama over Republican Mitt Romney, Madonna followed: “Seriously, I don’t care who you vote for … Do not take this privilege for granted. Go vote.”
This isn’t the first time Madonna has touted Obama in recent tour stops, but the boos in a concert held in a blue city like New Orleans does raise eyebrows less than two weeks before Election Day.
