What’s more absurd, asking the leader of the free world an inane pop culture question, or having said leader treat it like it was a query on the peace process in the Middle East?
Pop culture watchers got a twofer this week as the host of “The Yo Show” asked President Barack Obama to share his thoughts on the feud between new “American Idol” hosts Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj.
Big f***ing deal, to paraphrase a certain vice president. Not to Obama, apparently.
“I think that they are going to be able to sort it out, I am confident,” the president reassured. “I’m all about bringing people together, working for the same cause, I think both outstanding artists are going to be able to make sure that they’re moving forward and not going backwards.”
Actually, Obama would probably trash both as millionaires who don’t pay their fair share had they not both been vocal in their support for his reelection.
Can you really blame Obama for lunging at such a question? It’s easier than talking about his constantly evolving position on the Sept. 11 terrorist attack that killed Ambassador Chris Stevens or his failed economic recovery.
Even liberal reporter Tim Molloy of TheWrap.com winced at Obama’s handling of the absurd query.
Hey, it’s all about priorities … and anything that avoids talking about Team Obama’s record.
