Actor/director Peter Berg is hopping mad at Team Romney.

Berg, who directed the film version of “Friday Night Lights” and served as the executive producer on the long-running television show of the same name, claims the Romney campaign is using a line of dialogue from the show in its current marketing campaign without permission.

Peter Berg, who coined the phrase “Clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose,” said he was “not thrilled” to see the expression “plagiarized” by the Romney campaign on posters, Facebook and in stump speeches.

The campaign has been referencing the motto since last week’s presidential debate.

“Your politics and campaign are clearly not aligned with the themes we portrayed in our series,” Berg told Romney. “The only relevant comparison that I see between your campaign and Friday Night Lights is in the character of Buddy Garrity — who turned his back on American car manufacturers selling imported cars from Japan.”

Ironically, Berg had no comment on Vice President Joe Biden’s plagiarist past. Biden’s 1988 presidential campaign got derailed when news he had plagiarized a British politician’s life story hit the press.
