Last weekend saw Sensei’s call streak soldier on. This week, “The Expendables 2” reloads while “2016: Obama’s America” greatly surprises.
This weekend’s predictions and revenue results go as follows:
1. “The Expendables 2″ ($13 million) -Film is set up to repeat and again keep “old school action” at the boxoffice forefront. Sensei also knows better than to go against Chuck Norris.
2. “Premium Rush” ($9.2 million) – JosephGordon-Levitt’s star power is on the rise, but he is only looking at amarginal opening here. His time will come, just not with thisunattractive August opening date.
3. “The Bourne Legacy” ($8.5 million) – A close battle with “Premium Rush” looms, one that won’t be settled until late in the weekend.
4. “ParaNorman” ($7 million) – With so many kids returning to school, family audiences will be limited. Still, film will hold its own.
5. “2016: Obama’s America” ($6.2 million) – The real star of thisweekend. All eyes will be on this documentary which is leading manypre-ticket sales (including Fandango). Film will not only perform verywell for a documentary but has the momentum to pull a top five finish.
In other calls:
Look for “Hit and Run” to disappoint with $5 million while “The Apparition” only scares up $3 million. “Hope Springs” will also continue to perform well as itbreaks the $45 million domestic mark.
That’s the word from Sensei.
