HBO likes being in the Aaron Sorkin business, even if critics aren’t quite so pleased.
Sorkin’s “The Newsroom,” which bowed late last month to mediocre ratings, has been renewed for a second season by the pay cable giant.
The series stars Jeff Daniels, Emily Mortimer, Jane Fonda and Sam Waterston as employees at a fictional cable news outlet striving to deliver news without compromise – or commercial considerations.
Critics have mostly savaged the show’s first few installments, blasting Sorkin for his rose-colored view of modern journalism and willingness to talk down to his audience.
“The Newsroom” airs at 10 p.m. EST Sunday nights on HBO.
