Reading celebrity Twitter reactions to President Barack Obama’s announcement that he suddenly approves of same-sex marriage (but won’t lift a finger to make them a reality) is rather surreal.
Most celebrities couldn’t be bothered to blame Obama for his past position, one that officially ended less than a few hours ago.
Everyone from Kim Kardashian to Alec Baldwin rushed to Twitter to trumpet the news, even though Obama took a very conservative position on the matter in stating gay marriage legislation should be decided on a state-by-state level.
Meaning nothing will change, technically, based on his now “fully evolved” position.
Celebrities, including Neil Patrick Harris, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Sandra Bernhard, were euphoric all the same. But the most over the top reaction goes to singer Audra McDonald, who Tweeted: “How many young lives did the president just save by saying he supports them today?”
