President Barack Obama doesn’t need another celebrity making more excuses for a first term filled with divisive mud-slinging and a woeful economic recovery. But Bill Cosby is stepping up to the plate all the same.
Cosby, the beloved family-friendly comic, told MSNBC’s David Gregory the same thing virtually every other Obama devotee from Hollywood has said before. The president simply inherited too tough a gig:
All you hear people talk about is what he didn’t do,” Cosby said. “He tried to bring us together. …Hundreds of thousands and millions of people still behind him, but [there are] people who are very quietly acting like they have no idea what he inherited. It’s as if he had the surplus when he moved into office.
