Remember when the White House chided Rush Limbaugh on his supposed lack of civility because of his wording – for which he later apologized – in criticizing Georgetown Law student and liberal activist Sandra Fluke?
President Obama personally called up Fluke to express his sadness over the “personal attacks” against her. Jay Carney, White House Press Secretary, tut-tutted, “The fact that our political discourse has been debased in many ways is bad enough. It is worse when it’s directed at a private citizen who was simply expressing her views on a matter of policy.”
Well, President Obama, perhaps you should stop inviting the world’s most debased commentators to the White House.
On July 1, 2011, it appears that comedian Louis C.K. (nee Louis Szekely) visited the White House. According to the White House visitor logs, Szekely was there for almost five hours. While there, he visited the West Wing and White House speechwriter Jonathan Favreau. Szekely’s visit was never reported by the media.
C.K., you’ll recall, was the same fellow who tweeted, “I want to rub my father’s c*** all over Sarah Palin’s fat t—.” And “@SarahPalinUSA kudos to your dirty hole, you f***ing jackoff c***-face jazzy wondergirl.” He’s the same guy who talked about Palin’s “f*** retard making c***.”
Interestingly enough, after issuing those disgusting tweets, C.K. even got an email from a White House correspondent, as he recounted:
It’s so weird, I’m on an airplane and I’m writing these things and then an e-mail comes up during the flight saying, “I just got this from this White House correspondent: ‘Tell your friend he better stop or he’s going to put himself in a lot of trouble.'” Like somebody goes in the f***ing White House and took the time to go, “This guy’s got to stop; he’s going to hurt himself.”
And yet the White House apparently invited C.K. a year later. We’re still waiting on the phone call to Sarah Palin, who at this point, was a private citizen utilizing her First Amendment rights.
And Szekely isn’t the only uncivil character to get the red carpet treatment from the White House. Whoopi Goldberg apparently visited the White House twice – once in May 2010, and again in August 2011. In May 2010, she attended a state dinner with the President; in August 2011, she visited the Rose Garden and saw President Obama again. This is the same Whoopi who suggested back in 2009 that Roman Polanski’s rape of an underage girl wasn’t “rape-rape.” This is the same Whoopi who attacked Rush over his use of the word slut, but was fine with it when Ed Schultz was describing Laura Ingraham as a “talk slut,” because as she said, “Slut is slut.” So she’s a hypocrite and rhetorically vile – and she visited the White House multiple times.
She’s not the only uncivil personality from The View to visit the White House. In December 2010, Joy Behar visited the White House, where she met the President on the State Floor. Behar, you’ll recall, called Nevada Senate candidate Sharron Angle a “bitch,” and stated that kids who are homeschooled are often “demented.” So, Joy, welcome to the People’s House!
Before the folks at the White House begin attacking the right for our supposed incivility, they ought to take a look in the mirror. The truth is that the left’s incivility outpaces the right’s by leaps and bounds. And it gets approval from the President of the United States and his lackeys.
