Comedy Central Hands Show to Occupy-Friendly Comic

Comedy Central is adding another program headed by a liberal performer to its lineup.

Jeff Ross, best known for his blistering comedy roast performances, will star in a new series called “The Burn” this summer – just in time to comment on the presidential election. From the Comedy Central press release:

In “The Burn,” Ross will be joined by a group of fellow comics to skewer the week’s hot topics and head into the field to take aim at public figures and current events.

Comedy Central currently airs liberal programs like “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” and “The Colbert Report.” Earlier this year, the channel added “Key & Peele,” a sketch comedy series which frequently includes pro-Obama material in its repertoire.

Ross hasn’t been as openly political as some of his peers, like Bill Maher or Lewis Black. But last year Ross visited an Occupy Wall Street protest to throw his full support behind the movement.
