Alan Moore, the mind behind iconic graphic novels like “Watchmen” and “V for Vendetta,” is joining a new comics lineup that will be creating “art and stories inspired by the protesters,” according to Deadline.com.
He joins his “V For Vendetta” collaborator David Lloyd, who came aboard last week. (The coalition, which numbers 53 artists to date, also includes “The Walking Dead’s” Charlie Adlard.) Occupy Comics … has already raised $15,000 on crowd-funding site Kickstarter; the plan is to roll out a series of digital comics early next year, followed by limited-edition paper comics and then a hardbound collectable book.
Let’s cross our collective fingers that the Occupy Wall Street movement doesn’t flicker and die before those first Occupy Comics issues hit newsstands. After all, the potential stories are endless:
- Occupy protester, tired of depositing his feces on cop cars, decides to branch out and turn the nearest Starbucks into his personal outhouse.
- A proud progressive woman learns how to ignore sexual assaults around her that might cast her beloved movement in a negative light.
- OWS regular finds work in the business community and is dubbed a sellout by her ex-brethren.
