Flashback: Take the Kidney and Run – George Lopez Divorces Wife After She Gives Him Life-Saving Organ

Talk show host and comedian George Lopez is divorcing his wife of over 17 years.

Lopez, 49, and his wife Ann [Serrano Lopez] have apparently been working out the details of the split ‘for a long time’ but both made the decision to end their marriage.

The couple were thought to have had one of the strongest marriages in Hollywood but the sad revelation shows another celebrity coupling has run its course.

In 2005 the family made headlines when it was revealed that Ann had given George the gift of life by donating one of her kidneys to him.

She told reporters, ‘George, he comes from a very dysfunctional family, a horrific childhood. It was hard for him to accept that someone would give him the gift of life.’

The Lopez Tonight host added, ‘I was crying. I thanked her and I told her I loved her. I was more concerned about her than I was about myself.’
