Asking the media to leave the Palin kids alone is like asking Michael Moore to find good in America, Joy Behar to let someone finish their sentence, Barbra Streisand to do her own laundry, Ed Schultz to recognize the other side’s humanity, Matt Damon to act, the Huffington Post to stop plagiarizing, James Cameron to put up or shut up, CNN to attract viewers, Paul Greengrass to try a tripod, Kathleen Parker to risk being disliked by people who don’t matter, Whoopi Goldberg to be charming, George Lucas to tell a good story, ABC News to not cave like a punk, Tina Fey to move on, Paul Haggis to get over himself, PBS to stop abusing our money, Obama to put his own country first (and I don’t mean Kenya), and Jon Stewart to STOP TELLING PEOPLE WHAT THEY CAN AND CAN’T SAY!
Even when he’s right on principle, and he is right on this one, have you noticed that whenever there’s a Jon Stewart clip floating about or, say, he puts on a big national rally, that he’s almost always trying to force his own speech rules on the rest of us? And the reason we’re using this particular clip to make this particular point is so that we don’t come off as partisan — because we do agree with him here.
But that doesn’t make him any less of a Church Lady with a smirk.
This is America and Stewart has every right to say what he wants. No one’s saying he can’t tell the rest of us to shut up. But it is revealing and getting more and more boorish by the day.
