Health care reform, consistently dishonest media bias, a radically left Hollywood establishment; these are all but mere distractions to the real problem facing conservatives today… Sean Hannity. Haven’t you heard? He’s a bad man! An awful, terrible, horrible man! He steals… From Soldiers and their families! He also hates amputees. How deplorable! Who does this charlatan think he is?

By now, I’m sure that you’re all aware of the attacks surrounding Sean Hannity and the Freedom Alliance. If you’ve been paying attention, you’ve also seen the thorough refutation of said accusations through real reporting and reliable sources (no, a friend of a friend doesn’t count). The bigger question at hand for cannibal Conservatives however is… Why?

At a time where we find ourselves staring down the barrel of a gun so large that it makes Yosemite Sam’s ACME revolvers look like pea-shooters, why are there conservatives who insist on turning the fight against their own?

The sad fact is that there are some “conservatives” out there who have carved themselves out a nice little niche through doing just that. It’s not hard to do, after all leftists love conservative turncoats. If they can have a conservative mouthpiece making their arguments for them, so much the better.

If you’re a “conservative” however, and you get a majority of your traffic from the Huffington Post or the Daily Kos, at what point do you cease being a conservative? When no right-of-center network, website or blog wants anything to do with you, at what point do you ask yourself; Is it me?!

Instead, what often happens is that these “conservatives” paint themselves into a corner and whenever they publish a hit-piece, they immediately send it to editors at the big leftist blog rolls… Simply because it’s become their only traffic generator. I can’t prove this, but I heard it from a friend of a friend.

See what I did there?

Listen, I completely understand that political affiliation takes a back seat to moral credibility and core principals. There are plenty of conservatives out there who’ve strayed from those principals and oftentimes their presence in the public square is of more damage to our cause than good. However, I also understand that dropping the gloves and attacking them at center-ice in front of the opposition will ultimately be more damaging to our team than if I simply slapped them around on the bench.

As for Sean Hannity; I don’t want to be “that guy” who claims to be best buds with the man. After all, is there anything more embarrassing than a second-tier blogger bragging about their “brunch with Ann Coulter”? I have, however, spent enough time with him to tell you that from a personal standpoint, he’s one of the most-stand up guys I’ve ever encountered. Not only is he absurdly generous, charitable, honest, and gracious to his fans, and a tremendous family man, but I’ve personally watched him opt for advancing the conservative movement over advancing the Hannity brand time after time.

For that, I (along with all conservatives) owe him a great debt of gratitude. If you want to see what kind of a man he is, just ask any of his producers (Lauren Fritts, Tiffany Fazio, Jennie Lubart and Elisha Krauss) or even his interns. The man is blessed with the most adoring, loyal staff I’ve ever met. One can only hope to have as many people so dedicated to them in their lifetime.

Call me old-fashioned, but I think that if more conservatives acted more like Sean Hannity, and less like pseudo-intellectual journalists hell-bent on destroying our own in order to “gain the moral high ground,” we’d all be a lot better off.

… Although, I’m sure Sean Penn loves sitting back and watching the cannibalism.
