Boom! Studios, a minor comic book publisher, is putting out a 128 digest sized title attacking Republicans called “Repuglicans”. It’s produced by artist Pete Von Sholly with commentary by writer Steve Tatham. The cover shows Sarah Palin as some kind of pox ridden vampire with Glenn Beck as a zombie, Ann Coulter as a ghoul and Lou Dobbs looking kind of annoyed. I suppose that’s supposed to be scary in lefty land.
Artist Sholly claims it shows “…the true face of the right, and it’s not pretty.”
Isn’t it funny when artists try to come off as “rebels” by defending the mainstream? I mean, the Republicans are out of power. The Dems have controlled Congress for the last four years. So let’s show how brave we are by attacking the party out of power! Stick it to the man, man!
The cover blurb says: “They came to feed on the body politic!” So, they’re bad for the country? Is that what they’re saying?
Until Scott Brown was elected recently, the Democrats has a filibuster proof majority. So how are the Republicans a threat exactly? Oh yeah, the public views congress with a 73% disapproval rating. Yes, the one controlled by the Democrats for the last four years. So let’s blame the Republicans, man!
The Democrat president Obama who ran as a moderate spent double the amount Bush did and more than any president in history, in his first year in office. How much, do you ask? $3.5 trillion dollars. The same president that the Dems told us what the “smartest president in history”, even though he’s refused to reveal his SAT or ACT scores or his academic record as an undergraduate at Occidental and Columbia. I guess we’ll have to take their word for it.
So let’s look at his record as president, shall we? He’s created a record $1.6 trillion dollar deficit so far. He signed a bill to increase the federal government’s spending limit for the second time in one year, this time to $14.3 trillion dollars. But hey, he created a commission on “Fiscal Responsibility and Reform.” Can you say “Epic Fail?”
His poll numbers aren’t so hot either. In fact, a recent CNN poll (yes, Democrat loving CNN) said that 52% say he doesn’t deserve a second term. So let’s show how brave we are and attack Republicans! It’s their fault, man!
Oh, wait, I get it now. They’re attacking Republicans because the public is so mad at the Democrats right now, that after only one year of “Hope and Change” they want to kick their flabby behinds to the curb. Which means, OH NOOOOOO! The people might vote for Republicans!
Here’s the real problem. Those the arts community who think they’re sticking up for “their side” by defending and promoting Democrats have merely been defending the establishment the whole time. The Democrats have had control of Congress (which controls government spending, not presidents) for most of the last 60 years. Almost nothing Reagan or Bush 41 did could have happened without Democrats voting for it. And all the stuff Clinton gets credit for, like the deficit reduction, was done under a Republican congress. Yes, kids…Congress controls spending.
But let it not be said that Republicans don’t deserve some knocks. They deserve plenty. Because they voted for a lot of the same idiotic crap that has saddled this country with more debt than any country in the history of the world. Both parties share some blame. Picking on one side is really short sighted to say the least.
The progressives are in both parties and they’re the establishment. They have been for decades. If you really want to stick it to the man, stop defending the people causing all the problems. Things are screwed up because of their policies. Maybe if you artists spent more time educating yourselves (with non-partisan materials) you wouldn’t waste it propping up the very establishment you really despise.
