A family is claiming that their local Walmart store ruined their daughter’s graduation party because the store gave them a cake made out of Styrofoam.

Marsy Flores, the girl’s mother, said the family’s sweet plans turned sour when the cake from the Pasadena, Texas, store could not be consumed.

“They can’t replace the moment that we lost,” Flores told KPRC. “This is my baby, and she was graduating, so it was very important to me.”

Flores said she went to Walmart to pick up a pre-ordered cake at the store for her daughter’s graduation, but the Pasadena location told her that the two-tier cake had gone missing.

The store allegedly offered to give the family a smaller version of the cake at no charge, but the seemingly sweet baked good turned out to be a block made of Styrofoam.

Walmart eventually issued a statement apologizing for the incident and gave them a $60 gift certificate for their troubles.

“Incident was a result of a misunderstanding. The matter has been resolved. The customer was given a gift card for her inconvenience,” a representative from the store said.
