An intoxicated woman was put in jail after she called 911 to report a possible drunk driver on August 16, according to reports.
Breanna Dawn Hernandez, 32, called police and told them she was following a possible drunk driver in Woods Cross, Utah. However, when officers asked her for more information about the suspect, Hernandez began laughing and gave them her own license plate number.
“The call-taker stated Breanna sounded intoxicated, was burping, and laughing uncontrollably on the phone,” reports said.
When the police located Hernandez, she attempted to run from them but the officers were able to restrain her.
The officers said they “could smell the odor of alcoholic beverage coming from her person,” according to a probable cause statement.
Police searched her vehicle and found an almost empty bottle of Fireball whiskey in a cup holder, according to court documents.
Hernandez was then transported to a local hospital for evaluation due to her level of intoxication. Hospital medical staff sedated her after she continued to fight with them and the officers. Once she woke up, Hernandez made another call to dispatchers and said she was “ready to go to jail and do her time.”
“On Aug. 17, the woman was charged with DUI, a class B misdemeanor, and having an open container in a vehicle, a class C misdemeanor,” KSL.com reported.
On Tuesday, reports said she pleaded guilty to the DUI charge and will serve 12 days in the Davis County Jail and 12 months probation. She was also fined $1,260.
Reports said Hernandez had been previously arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs, burglary tools, and criminal trespassing.
In August, Breitbart News reported a similar instance when an Iowa woman called police and told them the car she was driving had been stolen after she ran a red light.
“The Iowa State Patrol was finally able to stop Thornburg’s car by deploying stop sticks that flattened the vehicle’s tires,” the report said. “At 11:29 a.m., the suspect was taken into custody and identified as the woman who reported her own car stolen.”
