A teenager in Washington has been arrested and accused of raping a teen girl as she lay dying of a drug overdose and then texting images of her nude body to his pals.
Brian Roberto Varela of Lynnwood, Washington, was charged with manslaughter as well as second-degree rape, and the controlled substance homicide of 18-year-old Alyssa Mae Noceda, the Associated Press reported.
The suspect reportedly told police that Noceda had snorted Percocet and ingested liquid marijuana before collapsing in his room on February 12.
But instead of helping the girl, police say Varela took the girl’s clothing off and began assaulting her. Police also entered several text messages into court records, one of which read, “LOL, I think she od’d, still breathing.”
Police said that their investigation discovered that the suspect was telling friends, “she died having sex with me.”
In other texts, Varela wrote that his victim was “on her back with swollen purple/blue lips” and “clearly unconscious.”
The next day after the girl’s death, Varela went and worked his shift at a local Dairy Queen outlet.
Upon presenting a search warrant, police found the girl’s body in a plastic crate at Varela’s home.
Police also said the suspect told them he planned to bury the girl’s body in the woods and then used her thumb to unlock her cell phone so he could send messages to make it look as if she was running away from home.
The charges faced by the suspect carry a separate $500,000 bond. Varela has not yet entered a plea.
