Manchin: Medical Manufacturing ‘Should Be Brought Back with the Protection of the Federal Government’

On Tuesday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “Your World,” Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) called for the manufacturing of medical devices and medicine to be returned to the United States with federal government protection.

Manchin stated, [relevant remarks begin around 2:30] “We’ve let a lot of things go offshore. And I’ve supported the president on clamping down on China. … Now we need to bring back those necessities. We know for our defense we have to be able to manufacture and have steel and aluminum. And now we know for the health and well-being of our citizens, we should be manufacturing medical devices and medicine that basically can heal us and keep us safe. Those things should be brought back with the protection of the federal government.”
