On Tuesday’s broadcast of CNN’s “Situation Room,” CNN Chief White House Correspondent Jim Acosta stated that President Trump is using the World Health Organization as “a distraction” and that the W.H.O., along with China, are “scapegoats” for the president.
Acosta said, “[T]here was a briefing last week, where he began to say that he was halting funding for the World Health Organization and then he backpedaled away from that. So, obviously, they feel like they’ve come up with a distraction to use at today’s briefing. Yesterday, it was the news media. Today, it’s the W.H.O. And if you go through the scapegoats that he’s blamed so far for this coronavirus pandemic, the W.H.O., members of the news media, Democrats in Congress, governors. He’s blamed China. He’s blamed the Obama administration. He’s blamed everybody but himself. … The president is sounding very Baghdad Bob-like in the way that he’s assigning blame to everybody but himself.”
