In a Wednesday interview on Fox News Channel’s “America’s Newsroom,” Rep. Dan Kildee (D-MI) sounded off on the fight against the spread of COVID-19 as hundreds of medical workers in Michigan have tested positive for the disease.
Kildee said it is “hard” to see the light at the end of the tunnel at this time because his state is yet to reach its peak, but Michigan is hoping for the best and planning for the worst.
Host Ed Henry asked, “What are your thoughts about whether we’re starting to see, amid all of this tragedy, some light at the end of the tunnel?”
“Well, it’s hard to see it only in the sense that in Michigan we are right in the middle of it. We haven’t hit the peak yet,” replied Kildee. “But, obviously what we need to do is hope for the best, and we really hope that those projections come true, but we have to plan for the worst to make sure that we’re prepared in case the models that have shown a higher mortality rate will potentially come to pass. we hope to God that this does not happen.”
He added, “I think the most important thing for us to do right now is to continue to get the resources to the healthcare providers that they need — the PPE, the ventilators.”
