Home Depot co-founder and NYU Langone Medical Center Chairman Ken Langone on Tuesday sounded off on the ongoing fight against the coronavirus pandemic as it hits New York City and its hospitals especially hard.

During Fox Business Network’s “Mornings with Maria,” Langone praised the work done by medical personnel and first responders amid the pandemic, saying Americans should “thank God” for all of them.

“Right now, America ought to thank God for its first responders, for its doctors and nurses, and all the people that work in these hospitals. They’re world-class and they’re really redeeming themselves,” Langone told host Maria Bartiromo.

“The doctors know what they’re doing,” he added. “And I got to say this, Maria, firsthand watching the doctors and nurses and healthcare providers in this country is a miraculous thing to see. God bless them. We’re blessed to have those people in our midst. They’re performing beyond belief.”

In the interview, Langone also pushed back against the media over sensationalizing the crisis.

“Journalism in America ought to be ashamed of itself for what it’s doing in this crisis,” he declared. “The media is not doing any good by promoting sensationalism and gotcha headlines.”
