On Monday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “The Story,” U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Commanding General Todd Semonite stated that in the next few days, the Corps will write more contracts for around another 3,000 hospital beds and warned that there will be a “critical demand” for hospital staff in the weeks ahead.
Semonite said, “We’ve got about eight gigantic contracts going in right now, tonight, across the United States, about 8,500 rooms. In the next couple of days, we’re going to write seven more big contracts, about another 3,000.”
Semonite later stated that while the Corps is “primarily focused” on treatment sights, and staffing and supplies are the focus of the Department of Defense, “I think it’s going to be a shortage, though. I think that you’re going to find, that, at the end of the day, I don’t think the sites are going to be the critical path. I think you’re going to go back to the staff are probably going to be the most critical demand in a couple of weeks from now.”
