Monday on MSNBC’s “Live,” 2020 Democratic presidential hopeful Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) said in light of the House of Representatives passing a background check bill five months ago and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) not bringing it up for a Senate vote, McConnell was failing his duty to protect the American public from mass shootings.
Harris said, “Hey, Mitch McConnell, put it on the floor for a vote. Bring everyone back and let’s pass this thing. Let’s do this. Let’s do the right thing.”
She added, “Let’s have action. And action means doing what Congress has the power and the responsibility to do, which is act in the best interest of the American people and in the best interest of the safety and well-being of the American people. That is the charge of the United States Congress, and it has failed to act.”
