Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union,” in the aftermath of two mass shootings, 2020 Democratic presidential hopeful South Bend, IN Mayor Pete Buttigieg accused President Donald Trump of “condoning and encouraging white nationalism.”
When asked if Trump is a white supremacist, Buttigieg said, “Yeah at best he’s condoning and encouraging white nationalism. When you have people chanting Jews will not replace us and the president sees very fine people there, we have a president who made his career politically on demonizing Mexicans and the shooter yesterday had the goal of killing as many Mexicans as possible, you don’t have to use a lot of imagination to connect the dots here. It is very clear that this kind of hate this being legitimized from on high. And if that were not true, the president would be acting and speaking very, very differently than what he’s doing right now.”
