Tuesday on CNN’s “Situation Room,” former Obama administration Housing and Urban Development Secretary and 2020 Democratic presidential hopeful Julián Castro said if elected he will create a new entitlement program for housing.
Castro said, “I see housing as a human right. One of the things I would do, for instance, is to make the housing voucher initiative an entitlement program. So that families no matter where they live, whether they are in a rural community or an urban community they could, if they make less than 50% of the area median income, they would get a housing choice voucher to be able to go and get safe and affordable housing.”
