Tuesday on Fox News Channel’s “Fox News @ Night” Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), a member of the House Freedom Caucus, noted that some of his Democratic colleagues were “focused” on impeachment while there seemed to be no appetite from the American people for it.
Jordan predicted Democrats would ultimately follow through with impeachment, however.
“[L]ook, there’s no basis for impeachment,” Jordan said. “They haven’t officially declared it, but I think it’s already started. They have the key chairman in the respective committees in the house; already have these memoranda of understanding, how they’re going to coordinate — actual contracts that they’ve signed, how they’re going to coordinate their attack on the president. So, they’re totally focused on that, but there’s no basis for it. The American people don’t want it. I don’t think it works. But I think they’re probably going to — at the end, end up doing it. And as you said in your intro, this is the opening act, John Dean coming in, kind of in their impeachment process.”
Jordan said he welcomed former Department of Justice special counsel Robert Mueller to testify before a House committee, but seemed skeptical that it would happen.
