Authorities in New York City are looking for five people caught on surveillance video who blindsided a 38-year-old man, beat him up and robbed him before running off.
Per NY Daily News, Kenneth Wong was walking in East New York when he was jumped from behind by a group of five people who are believed to be in their late teens or early twenties Friday evening.
The attackers knock Wong to the ground after slashing him in the head and punching him in the face. They then proceed to stomp on him and take his wallet before fleeing.
Wong seems to gather himself and stands up to reveal blood gushing out of his head. He stumbles around still dazed before finally leaving the camera’s view.
“I was on my way from work, I just was going back to my house and the next thing you know, these guys came right up beside me and decided to attack me and stole my wallet,” he told NY Daily News of the attack.
Wong said his wallet had $20 and several credit cards.
He went to the hospital and reportedly received 35 stitches and 16 staples in his head and suffered a broken nose.
Wong said what happened to him was “traumatizing.”
“It was surreal that [the cut] was really deep. I guess I should say I’m lucky that I’m still alive but still I’m in pain. I was thinking if I will live to see my kids,” he shared.
Wong said one of his credit cards was used at McDonald’s for $200 and $7 at a Dunkin’ Donuts. The news outlet said the attackers also spent some money at a deli and a grocery store.
